Toxic People

We meet thousands of people here on this earth. They will enter your life for a reason, a season or a lifetime.
Some we connect with right away and some we will never bond with. Some are funny and kind and easy to be around and others are mean and nasty and are clearly miserable in life.
But the ones that most negatively impact your life are “toxic people”. They come in all different shapes and sizes, come from all different walks of life and you can spot them a mile away. They typically hate their life and worst of all they secretly hate themselves.
They are filled with resentments, anger, fear, heartache, bitterness and it seeps through their pores. It is sad to watch and painful to be around.
Toxic people fling insults at others, make condescending comments and then act like they didn’t. I believe most aren’t even aware of the way they come across. They seem to be hell bent on making you as miserable as themselves.
And the worst is if you are married to someone who is toxic. It effects your mental well being because you really can’t get away from the darkness that surrounds this person.
Dealing with toxic people is like walking a tight rope. You always have to watch what you say because they get very defensive. They don’t think anyone likes them (and you wonder why) and nothing seems to make them happy. They drag you down and it’s exhausting trying to make them happy, because the reality is that nothing is going to make an unhappy person happy.
They literally suck the joy out of life and they will suck the joy out of your life if you allow them to.
You can’t make a toxic person experience joy or bring them happiness, it has to come from within. You can try to help toxic people but unless they are willing to help themselves and dig deep down and remove what is poisoning them, no amount of trying is going to help them out.

Now I can think of a number of toxic people that I have come across recently (STBX is one of them ). Supercali xx

OMG that is my Ex (i can say ex now!!) he thought the world had a problem not him and was down about everything until he dragged me down with him with the name calling and constant barage of hurtful snipes etc.

Even now he tries but a year down the line i have managed to realise it is his problem - for years i couldnt understand why he was not happy with what we had but wouldnt do anything about it.

Reading back this de­script­ion it is him to a tee!! I was not imagining it at all.
Now i worry for our children as he still has influence over them and I have to give them the strength to see past the 'woe is me act' and live the life they want and make them realise anything is possible but it is down to them not anyone else. My eldest already asks why her dad never says anything nice about anyone!!

I have met a few of these. But as super says they are easy to spot and they are so negative about everything. But they are not dangerous. Not like the toxic people that hide there toxicity. C,

Then there are those that attempt to project their toxicity, some unwittingly aware they are doing so and others more deviously doing so!!

My mother in law is a toxic person for sure. Sadly my stbx has shown so many of these traits - not all but he is turning into her slowly.

Toxic people,

I have known a lot of them..... The only way to deal with these, stand tall, detach yourself and show them 'love'. Love is a very very hard emotion to deny.

i have been in situations with 'toxic people' and I have stood there, smiled, and ignored their bitter, unhelpful, hasty retorts.

When you are happy with yourself, and are happy that you are completely above their remarks can you shirk any nasty remarks.

You commonly find that 'nasty' people have their own agenda and problems, dont let them feed on your fears. Put the barrier up and protect yourself. Be strong, respect yourself and your life. ignore them, put yourself in a big white bubble that they just cannot burst.
