Anyone thinking about travel over the holiday should be aware that some, if
not all, train companies are promoting off peak travel offers that might
make for a cheap day out.
London Midland is offering a day
anywhere on their network for £10 (£5 for children). Should you wish you
could travel between London and Liverpool or Bedford and Hereford. You
need to download a voucher from the website, then buy tickets at a network
station.
Southern Rail often offers bargains for advance booking
through their website, I believe they charge £1
for children
travelling with an adult, although not sure if this is web or ticket office
bookings.
I'd recommend checking the website of your local train
operator to see if comparable offers are available in your area.
Many operators also offer 2 for 1 vouchers on attractions, whilst London
is most heavily advertised in my area there are also good offers for other
parts of the country.
