Re:Internet Dating?

As a divorced father who see's his children every other w/end and who works the weekends when I don't see my children the www works for me. I have baggage and right now don't want a relationship but I do miss sex. I've met women through an NSA site that are in the same boat. Its a means to an end. When I'm ready for a something more I'll probably use a web-site because at 43 I would not know where to begin to meet single women unless its at speed-dating, solicitors or care-homes

10 months ago I posted a message on this thread of a friends experience of internet dating, at that time I hadn't taken the plunge myself.

I then decided to give it a go and I have now been seeing a guy who I met on-line for over 6 months and its still going well

Think maybe I have been very fortunate to meet someone so quickly. I was sceptical and wary of internet dating, but had no bad experiences, but I was careful and did take all the safety advice spoken about earlier on this thread.

It worked for me, I hope others out there have a success story to share?

My sister met her partner on the internet about 7 years ago and they are still together and getting stronger. She never married and has none of our baggage but it seems to work for them. They are in the process of moving in together at the minute so I may end up eating my words as potentail disaster looms but they have had great years and he is a great guy. I hope this guy is genuine but it might be a while before you see me on a dating website lol. Glad this has been positive for you so far.

There's a link to a scholarly paper on the subject (but it is plastered with the words 'uncorrected proof' down the side of it) which contains the longest abstract I have ever seen on any academic paper. On page 51 there's some advice of potential users of these systems. Although this is a ­meta­study, do treat with a degree of healthy skeptism, as with all research.

Of course we are picky on internet dating. There is a choice of thousands. So we look for Mr./ Miss Perfect. In the past we were limited basically to local offerings but now we can choose from the whole world.
Its very like going to Currys to buy a new TV.
We are faced with so many makes and models that we find it difficult to pic one so scrutenise the details in finer detail.
The result is that we then pop to Comet or Tesco or..or..or to see if there is a better deal.
So the result I see on dating sites is nobody actually making relationships. Keeping their options openfor a better model.
I actually see a society with everyone living alone and popping of for quicky relationships now and then. Even the housing sector is seeing singles numbers growing.
