Not really sure where this should go

Basically, I am moving out of the FMH into rented accommodation. I would like to know how much, roughly, I should budget for running a home. I really don't know what a "normal" household costs. Ours always used to be seem expensive because of all the computers he runs, the expensive Sky package, home insurance is high because of claims, etc. I hope you get the picture.

I don't know how much electric or gas a family of 1 adult, 2 teens and a baby would use for instance.

Can anyone point me in the direction of somewhere that breaks it down at all?

One of the best guides if you want a Free detailed budgeting tool I have found is on popular Money Saving Expert website. It sounds as if you will find that site very useful if you've not been dealing with finances much. I've used it for years and have found it very helpful.

If you want figures, that's a tough call, cos there is no "normal" typical accommodation! You need to be more specific. Look at the type of place you're interested in. Find out costs from tenants you may know, council websites about council tax, etc. Utilities bills depend on usage, insulation, personal comfort values. May seem like a bit of a minefield But my advice is to make a start and try the website
