Responding to notice of divorvce

Do you have to respond if you receive notice that your spouse is divorcing you?

I have received a solicitors letter informing me of my wife's intention to divorce on the grounds of unreasonable behaviour.

We were already going through mutually agreed mediation and now she has changed the goal posts. What should I do?

If you receive a divorce petition from court you do need to respond in 8 days.

Don`t defend, if the marriage is over its best just to agree.

Mediation is about the money side of it all not the actual divorce.

Before the court send the petition you should have a draft sent by the solicitor to agree or amend, to be brutally honest what is said in section 13 particulars makes little difference in the grand scheme of it all.

Thanks for reply Dukey, It was just from a solicitor not from a court. There was no time mentioned in the letter so I wasn't sure if I should wait for the follow up that was mentioned or act straight away or at all.

I should have added we were going through mediation and no solicitors (they would have come at the end when all the agreements were made.
The wife decided to "speed up" the process which effectively means she doesn't want separation first which was the reason we went to mediation first.

I am a little lost as to what should happen until I get the next letter from the solicitor that details the grounds for divorce.

Given that wasn't what we agreed what if there is a load of lies in the letter should I still not fight it?
