To issue divorce proceedings you will need to complete a divorce
petition and submit it to he court with a fee of £340.
There will be a guide in the library on this site.
Financial
proceedings, often referred to as
ancillary relief or financial remedy proceedings, are
dealt with separately usually under the same court case number but these
are effectively a separate matter. Again, you need to complete an
application which is a one page form called a
Form A and submit
this to the court with a fee of £240. The court will list the matter for a
first
directions appointment (FDA) but will give directions
in the notice of hearing for you both to prepare a financial statement
(Form E).
Start with the divorce petition first and ensure that
you get it right as it costs £100 to amend it if you get it wrong. it is
*very* easy to make a mistake on the
petition.
