Without details it's impossible to say because there are often a number of option and procedural hearings along the way. It also depends on how busy the Court of Session is.

hey fiona, just a qick one do yo think the law in scotland is behind the times , when it come to divorce, it seems to be a lot more on the ball in england!any way there is no way on gods earth will i wait to 2012 for a divorce so i went to alex salmonds office on friday, somebody out there can help me i just know they can.

The Family Law Act (Scotland) 1985 is more up to date than the Matrimonial Causes Act 1973 in England & Wales and for the majority of divorcing couples the law works fine in Scotland. A small minority of more complicated cases get trapped in the court system which was described as "Victorian" by Lord Gill who recently reviewed the civil courts. Currently Gill's recommendations for change are under consideration but unfortunately any reform is likely to be too late to help those going through proceedings now.
