Some advice on what I am liable for please

I have just had the petition from my wife of 9 years for our divorce.
I am not going to contest any of it as it would be ideal it is taken care of as quickly and easily as possible.
We have 2 children (4 & 7), a shared house (that I am currently living in) and accumulated debt outside of mortgage of c£10k.
I work full time, she does some part time work.
How do I work out what I am liable for after the divorce is done.
It is reasonably amicable and we would both prefer not to have a protracted court intervention - ie agree something between ourselves.
I just need to know what my obligations are and also my risks - anybody be able to steer me into the right direction?

Hi,

The first thing you will be liable for is CSA rate maintenance for the children. Who will be the PWC though? Will the children reside with you, or your ex? The assets of the marriage will be agreed during whats called 'mediation'. Yiou will both sit down and agree who has what and its really recoemmended if you want to avoid court that you agree some form of proposal. In many cases in there is little equity in the house then one of you (the PWC) will remain in the FMH till the children reach 18. A consent order will be drafted agreeing split of equity after this stage - released by sale, or one side buying the other out.

If your on a larage salary and your ex on low income then areas like SM come into play - Spousal maintenance.

Bottom line is the children will com first an foremost but these are the basics of it
