Re:Help ! Agree to adjournment of FH/Seeking Costs

Just when you think he couldn't sink any lower, and that the finishing post was in sight, Sols letter received today saying they want an adjournment of the FH for ancillary relief or they will be applying for costs - can someone please explain what this means - totally devastated by this latest trick !

There are common reasons for applying for an adjournment - usually due to crucial information being unavailable. Pension information is often not available which means that a judge couldn't possibly make a decision.

In these circumstances going to final hearing would be fruitless and end up in an adjournment and unnecessary costs. This is the position the other side is now adopting.

So, what is the reason for the proposed adjournment?

Thanks for taking the time to reply Charles. They were saying that we failed to supply documents on time (they have also) I wouldn't agree house valuation (umm - takes two to agree I thought) There is still a week and half till the hearing, statements etc have been exchanged. We are not talking billions or loads of assets - only the FMH - to sell or not to sell - can he afford to buy me out or not. We are keeping our own pensions so really simple. We are not agreeing to an adjournment.

My solicitor has been brilliant today I(as he has been throughout)

My post the other day was not just having a go at solicitors, but I struggle with the content and tone of the letters that I receive from them (His)

As my solicitor said today he receives letters like this all day every day, but to Joe Bloggs not used to the system and the way it works, it is I feel sometimes very heavy handed and unnecessary.

I wouldn't be as far as I am without the solicitor I have, and he has been worth every penny (and there have been lots of them spent) !
