Re:Help! Supervised contact

My husband has highly supervised contact (not to be left on his own with them at any time)with two of his children. The people supervising need to be vetted by SS and added to their list before they are approved.
My husband now wants to add people to that list and has sent a solicitors letter listing the people he wants to add.
Can I ­object­ to some of the people on the list and if I do will it be listened to?
If I ­object­ do I have to state reasons why?
I am really lost here. There is no court order in place and contact is at the minute by agreement.

You can ­object­ if you have a good reason to think that the children may be placed at some sort of risk if one of the named people is supervising. You will need to give the reason you have for believing this to be the case.

yes, contact is currently happeneing by agreement, so any changes need to be agreed.

Considerations around to who would be suitable and whether it is reasonable to agre tothe new names would include, in my view:

- is the propsed supervisor someone who the childrne already know? It's fine to introduce some new people, but havign a different stranger every time would potentially be quite disruptive. Adding someone who is already a family friend or amember of the extended family is less of an issue from this point of view.

- is the propeosed supervisor aware of the reasons why supervision is necessary? Are they able to protect the children if necessary? (e.g. if the person suggested is your ex's mum, does she understand the risks or is she convinced that it's all a mistake and that there isn't any need for supervision?)

- what is the reason for adding extra names? Are they being proposed to replace the existing supervisor? Are they being added bacause they want to see the children themselves? Are the exisiting supervisors not able to carry or, or are they wanting to reduce their invovlment?

- Are Social Serviec involved with your family? Waht is their view

The issue is around the reason why the visits need to be supervised. To protect the children they have not been told the full reasons and I wish it to stay that way. The people proposed clearly believe there is no reason why it should be supervised and are in my opinion likely to allow contact to not be supervised properly or, even worse, tell the children something which they are too young to hear. I also have a daughter (that he is not allowed to contact) and she is friends with their daughter. It would put my daughter in a very difficult position as her friend would question why she wasn't with the boys and it would interefere with her friendship. Also, I am unsure if they are aware of the true reasons why supervision is required and would prefer they didn't (to allow me and my daughter some privacy) As they are not family members they are much more likely to talk about it within the community, increasing the chances of my children hearing different "stories" back from friends.

The reason for adding extra names is that the existing supervisors cannot commit to being there during all visits due to other commitments. It is to give him a larger pool of possible people.

Would it seem reasonable of me to request that any additions are family members (his family) as they have an interest in the welfare of my children and I believe would ensure they were protected?

I don't understand how supervised contact is "by agreement". What do you mean by this? Does it mean that it has not been determined by a Court? If so, who has decided contact should be supervised and why?

Surely if contact needs to be "highly supervised" some sort of authority would have established this need ­base­d on facts? Who has assessed your partner as a "high risk" to your children and ­base­d on what?
