Maintenance and contact shouldn't be linked - if he has had a CSA assessment of £5 per week, and you believe him to be earning cash in hand, then you should inform the CSA.

I understand what its like for a parent to cut one child out completely - my children's father has done just that to our older daughter, but as much as its wrong, and it hurts, your younger child has a right to have a relationship with his/her father - regardless of how much CM is paid (there are some PWC who receive no CM at all) and if you think he is responsible or not (unless there are child protection issues, of course).

I understand your frustration - for years I paid for, and undertook journeys lasting at least 7 hours each way so that the kids could see their Dad, but as it meant they (the children) got to spend important time with their father, then it was worth it. I did it for them, not him.

My daugthers father no longer pays CM and every two weeks I make the journey to and from his home so that she can see him. Like Ruby I do it for my daughter.

I am lucky that now I dont need the money but sometimes in the past, it was a real struggle.

I would suggest meeting half way or you take he returns.

He cant drive and it would mean a long bus journey. He doesnt pay CM because his wages are so low I felt quilty taking the money.
