Are there any rules governing the privacy of documents related to family court proceedings. For example, if I wrote a report as directed and my ex then sent to someone not connected would that be OK?

It depends on what you mean by 'someone not connected'. Information may be disclosed to some persons but not to others, and the rules also determine the purpose for which disclosure is made.
Disclosure of information relating to children proceedings without the leave of the Court is strictly controlled by Rules 12.72 to 12.75 of the Family Procedure Rules 2010.
