Final Hearing - Self repped

I had my final hearing yesterday in Family Court - I self represented - very positive experience.

I blew my ex partner's barrister out of the water and he was not happy at all. It was an amazing experience.

They tried every dirty trick in the book - first of all solicitor did not send me a complete court bundle omitting the very important GP evidence showing excessive alcohol abuse.

Then they tried to ­object­ to the family friend who has been at every hearing (14 to date) supporting me in the court room which the Judge overruled!

Then they ­object­ed to my mother giving evidence as a grandmother which was again overruled by the Judge.

Don't think they were very happy because then to top it off, their client didnt stick to the ­script­ they had so obviously practised and my ex just looked like a joke!

Very proud of myself that I self repped - amazing if not daunting experience!

If you don't mind me asking, what was the outcome for you?

Well done - that's so encouraging for all of us wondering about what court might be like. Wish I could have been there.

Because it was listed a one day - there wasnt enough time for submissions so going back tomorrow morning.

My ex wanted direct contact but as he is an alcoholic and my son (8) is deeply traumatised by his father's behaviour CAFCASS are only recommending indirect contact.

Think the Judge is thinking about a Family Assistance order.

Just so proud that I represented the interests of my sons so well - dont think it could have gone any better - made up!

It was just amazing being able to represent the best interests of my two sons.

Felt surreal but my friend who sat in court said I was absolutely amazing!
