Not going to say much (most unlike me

) because most of it has been said already. I've
read this thread with interest, if somewhat lacking in appreciation.
As I said to you in chat this afternoon, I think your basic
argument/case is a valid one. When I pointed out that your presentation of
said case will affect its reception, you replied that you didn't want
sympathy.
Fair enough Arnie. You weren't getting any. But I'm
seriously struggling to understand why, with such a valid point to make,
you would immediately alienate your audience... I mean, if you are inciting
change, then wouldn't it be more productive to adopt an
informative/persuasive tone? Most of us reading this thread are not of the
legal profession yet we make up the greater part of your audience. Which
leaves me wondering... are you simply doing some posturing of your own?
Forgive me, the law is not my field. I speak only as someone whose
profession is in the field of language and communication...
