You took the words right out of my mouth mumto lol and hope you don't think I'm being too cheeky mumto but wasn't it a Harry met Sally moment that got you into your current "condition" lol xx

my current condition, unfortunately, is down to a selfish stbx who thought it reasonable to 'forget' to use contraception...consequently, it clearly can't be his baby because there was only the one opportunity and we all know that that only happens to 16 year olds, not 38 year old professionals!!!!!

I have a German friend who explained that in Germany you have to wait at least a year before applying for a divorce.

It may be me but I think that obtaining a divorce in this country is far too easy. I went from what I considered to be a happy marriage to a divorcee within 7 months. A friend of mine who came to the solicitors with me couldnt believe that he could put down complete lies on the petition under the guise of "unreasonable behaviour". She said simply why cant he just say I dont want to be married to her any more.


I also think it is essential that the Financial side of things HAVE to be sorted before the Decree Absolute can be granted.

Yes, DL..... unless we can have a compulsory meeting with a solicitor for all ENGAGED couples to explain section 25 before it's too late!

It's probably completely impractical, but I would love if people had more time to heal emotionally before wading into financial battles.... accusations, counter-accusations, lies, etc.
I feel it's much worse when peoples heads are spinning from the shock of any number of the usual reasons for separation.
It's almost impossible to detach your emotions from the financial practicalities until the dust has settled a bit.
