Flutterbye,
You don't actually have to write the story yourself. You
could take Garnet's idea(with respect Garnet!) and make a book which is
unique to your children.
Why not begin with the children
recording the things they still do with each parent, granny and grandads,
at
school, with friends, etc?
The children could paste in drawings, pictures and photographs,
brochures, admission tickets, programmes etc from places you and Dad take
them, recording that, 'Yes life has changed but we're still loved and doing
things.'
Depending on the age of the children of course, it
could record every day stuff like, 'Today it snowed and we made a
snowman.' 'Sports day at
school. Dad came.' 'Went to nana's from
school.' 'Mummy and granny came to the
school play.' 'My school report was ...'
'At the park...' 'My best friend... and the special trips like, 'This is us
at the museum. we saw...blah, blah.' and the ideas the children will come
up with themselves.
It may help to bridge the gap between what
they do with Mum and what they do with Dad and show that things are going
on and hopefully that healing is taking place.
Garnet's is such
a great idea and could easily be adapted. Are you going to copyright it
Garnet?!!!
Best wishes to anyone going through divorce and
coping with children. Thinking of your difficulties certainly stopped me
from feeling sorry for myself this morning!
