Can you help? Form E what could make it better.

A friend of Wikivorce is redesigning Form E to make it simpler to understand and complete can any of you lovely people reply and say what you found difficult to understand on the form.

All comments would be greatly appreciated

The biggest problems with Form E is just that - it is a form and looks pretty scary. If you just get one out of the blue with an order to fill it in within 4 weeks it is frankly terrifying. They aren't especially hard - just tedious and there is a lot of stuff to find - plus you are normally doing it when you are under huge emotional pressure which always makes things worse.

What would really help is a preface to the form that explains (in plain english)what it is and why it is needed. It could also have a simple list of the paperwork you need to get together before you start filling it in.

So many complex forms you get now - ie student finance - can be done online and have help hyperlinks throughout them. If Form E was like that it would make a HUGE difference. We have a good guide here on wiki - that may help but could even be expanded ie with what is this and where do you get it info about e.g. pension CETVs that you could click on as you go through.

It would make it soooooo much easier to do yourself and wd save a fortune in solicitors fees.

I agree totally with Hadenough, about the Form, not the wine.

I completed my Form E in an older format, when I'd completed it I found another version that had all the required documentation listed in an annexe at the back, this would have been extremely helpful if (as already suggested) was listed at the front, indicating in advance what might be needed.

Links - also agree very useful, I've posted a selection I used previously. Plus something to help break down and then summarise the budgeting of current / future needs.

Online would be helpful, if not an electronic file that could navigate through the relevant parts, bypassing others. One weakness I have with online forms is being able to complete in one sitting, so some mechanism to prepare in advance and save / print in parts would help. Have I got carried away?

I know this form could be easier, beyond the above not quite sure how.
