The experience of separation is not the same for everyone. Separation is about change and adaptation. It may take a while to deal with all the emotional and psychological upheaval of family separation, but things often get better over time and understanding the issues can make the process easier.

This leaflet is for you if you are a parent:
- separated from the other parent, and responsible for the main day-to-day care of your child, or
- living apart from your child and not the main day-to-day carer.
